Newcomer Monisha Vijaykumar fondly remembers being on the sets of one of her father’s films as a child, confidently telling those around her that she would one day become an actor. Despite her father's initial opposition, it turned out to be destiny as Monisha is now set to star in a film directed by her dad, who had once discouraged her from pursuing this career path.
Having recently graduated from the New York Film Academy, Monisha expresses how the program exceeded her expectations. Initially seeking to learn acting, she also gained training in editing and direction, providing her with a comprehensive understanding of filmmaking. Her primary goal after completing the course was to land a film role and experience working on set.
In her debut film, City Lights, Monisha portrays a young, idealistic character with ambitious aspirations. Despite questions about why she didn't opt for a more glamorous role, Monisha prioritizes being recognized as a talented performer before focusing on glamour. Returning home presented its own set of challenges for Monisha, including sleepless nights worrying about securing her first opportunity. Eventually, her father surprised her by offering her a role in his upcoming film, City Lights, after observing her dedication and determination. He wanted her to earn the opportunity and face uncertainty before giving her this chance.
